Coriander is indigenous to the Mediterranean and the Orient and is related to the parsley family. The leaves of this plant are the herb cilantro and the seeds are the spice coriander; their flavors do not resemble one another. Coriander has a sweet, spicy and woody aroma, with a mild sweet taste that contains a hint of orange and citrus. It’s used in pickling spice and in specialty and Belgian beers.
