Pickling Crocks

All the crocks that we offer are made right here in Ohio, using native clay and food grade glazing compounds. They are stenciled with the traditional blue bird symbol of the rebirth of spring. We are asked regularly if our crocks come with lids. The answer is no. There is no need for a lid when using our crocks for pickling and making sauerkraut. We recommend using a plastic bag, filled with water, to create an airtight seal on top of the fermenting vegetables. This allows fermentation gases to escape on their own.
