
Turmeric has been used for culinary purposes since 600 B.C. It is the root of a tropical plant related to ginger and native to the Orient. Turmeric is lightly aromatic with hints of pepper, citrus, and ginger. Use in curry powder, vegetarian cooking (bean and lentil dishes), sauces; also to flavor lamb, paella, rice dishes, fish / shellfish, and poultry.
