Fermentation Tanks, Pails and Carboys

The old garbage can method of fermenting beer or wine is just that, garbage. Your primary fermenter must be made of food grade materials.  The most important characteristics of a plastic fermenter is a very smooth interior.  Any scratches will provide a hiding place for bacteria which will ruin your beer or wine. We recommend using plastic for primary fermentation only.  Plastic pails provide the necessary head space to accommodate foaming and capacity to hold large volumes of fresh fruit.
